Image Imagination is a project focused on creation, relying on mental imagery that a chosen text provided as content. I was encouraged to play with a variety of materials and to be iterative and free, with a goal of creating a visual library. The text I chose is from the book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Chapter 7, β€œThe Boggart in the Wardrobe.” These images have a range of themes; Fear, Imagination, Insecurity, Comedy, Identity, and Mystery. I explored multiple methods of image creation, including the use of unexpected materials like bars of soap, lipstick, mica powder, cut paper, sparklers, smoke bombs, oil paint, oil pastels, tissue paper, and polymer clay.

This text used to scare me as a child but as I grew up, it became one of my favorite passages from the Harry Potter series. I now understand the deeper meaning, that we have power over our fears and can turn them into something comical. My brother, who now lives in Texas, and I, used to bond over Harry Potter as children and these books make me nostalgic for a time when we used to live together, under the same roof and could see each other everyday.
